Day 40: Yoga X

By , February 10, 2012 12:52 pm

Good workout today. Stretching is just what I needed. It never fails, if I’m out of the loop for awhile or have a few days off, the body tightens up luck crazy! So this is good to do and do often.

Weekend right around the corner. That’s great news in itself. We have to shoot pictures at work tomorrow. I wish I had a tan, paste face. Have a good one.

Day 33: Yoga X

Good day to stretch out. I had some days off, so Yoga X was a good workout for the day. It’s amazing how you can neglect the stretching for just a few days and then be tight as a board in no time. I have wickedly tight hamstrings. Super tight. Some of the Yoga moves are borderline impossible, I.E. twisting right angle pose. I just can’t get a hand up in the air. My body does not bend that way. But I keep trying! Oh, to be flexible. I’ve seen tall guys who are flexible. For instance, the guy in the Kenpo X video is about 6’6 or 6’7 and can do the splits. Yeah, it’s freaky and wrong on all fronts – but he probably doesn’t have tight hammies like me.

Oh well, it’s a tradeoff. I may not be able to do the twisting triangle pose, but I can reach the peanut butter on the top shelf in the kitchen without fail. Later, friends.

Day 28: Yoga X

Urgh. Recovery after wedding. Hey…I was the best man. I had an extra good time. Red X me once again.

Day 22: Yoga X

What a difference a little sleeps makes! Passed out about 12:30 A.M. last night after tackling some computer server issues (which can always be a good way to blow some much-valuable sleep time). But I still logged about nine hours. It was much needed.

So come workout time, I was ready to go. This is Week 4: Recovery Week. Based on the Classic program, this is a week they want you to chill a bit and burn some calories and give the muscles a break. Fine by me.

P90x Workout Plan Week 4Sleep makes all the difference

  • Day 1 – Yoga X
  • Day 2 – Core Synergistics
  • Day 3 – Kenpo X
  • Day 4 – X Stretch
  • Day 5 – Core Synergistics
  • Day 6 – Yoga X
  • Day 7 – Rest or X Stretch

I killed Yoga X today. I felt much stronger and I could make it through the moves fairly well. So got it in and started off on a good note unlike yesterday. Short work week this week and I head to Minnesota on Thursday. I love heading home. Good break. Back to Orlando on Monday. Yeeeehaw! And yes, P90X is in my suitcase. Have no fear. Later.

Day 19: Yoga X

Flexible, I am.Not a great performance. That is the summary for today. While I’m becoming much more flexible, my available time is about as tight as a new drum, so Yoga was a bit condensed today. Nothing outstanding to report on today from the ‘Office Workout Space’, other than TGIF.

Hitting the links tomorrow and plan to do Legs & Back afterward. That’s not going to be an easy task. But here we go.

Have a good weekend.

Day 12: Yoga X

By , January 13, 2012 7:17 pm

I did Yoga way late. My buddy was in town and we were working all day on web projects so by the time I could get to my workout, it was already 7:00 p.m. But the good news is I got it in. Tara even joined in and said it was her first time doing Yoga. She’s much more flexible than me – that’s for sure.

So it wasn’t the prettiest attempt at Yoga I’ve ever seen, but it’s done. That’s all that counts. 3-Day weekend is here. Awesome.

Day 5: Yoga X

Reverse Triangle Pose P90X

Reverse Triangle Pose: I couldn't even find a decent picture of a man attempting this. What does that tell you? This is TOUGH.

It was a good day to stretch these old bones out a bit. I never did Yoga growing up. I thought it was all a trendy joke. Wow, I was wrong. After doing Yoga, your body feels so great, it’s ridiculous. Probably because we rarely stretch (especially us ‘desk jockeys’ out there). I sit at a desk, then move to another desk, then back to my other desk. Eventually, it’s like your body just locks into a position. Add some pretty lame posture into the equation, and you’re asking for trouble.

Yoga stretches what needs stretching. And boy, do I struggle at it. There are some stretches that are so out of my reach (literally) that I just laugh. The ‘Reverse Triangle’ for instance. Seriously? My body simply does not bend that way. Three decades of tight hamstrings will get you that, pal.

But I try in earnest to stretch them out. One day I’ll put my hands on the floor and keep my knees locked. Some day, Gumby. Some day. See you tomorrow. First weekend workout – Legs & Back. Let’s do it.
