Day 42: Kenpo X

I said, I’m taking the weekend off! Not really, but I just didn’t get the workout done. No excuse. Red X time. Ouch.

Day 35: Kenpo X

Big Game!Killed it today. Amazing what a difference a day makes. I worked out later in the afternoon actually trying something called ‘relaxing’ for a change. I stayed OUT of my office for the most part (well, snuck an hour in the chair), but for the most part, I relaxed. It is Super Bowl Sunday after all.

Prior to the game I got in a great workout and was full of energy – something I’ve been lacking lately. So that’s good news. Lets try and keep this pattern going. Go Giants. Better yet, Skol, Vikings!

Day 24: Kenpo X

Forget water-boarding. If you want to punish a criminal, just turn on the fire alarm all morning. My apartment complex decided to test our sprinklers today. But along with that came the fire alarm.

Beeeeeeeeeeeeep Attention! Attention! This is an emergency. Stop what you’re doing and leave the building immediately. Beeeeeep!

I’m all about safety. But this went on and on for hours. I didn’t even hear the guys knock on my door to test the sprinklers because I had earplugs in. I thought I was going to lose it. But we survived. And the sounds stopped by workout time. Thank goodness. Working out with earplugs may have been a bit odd.

TONS of energy today. The sleep I’m getting is awesome. And it’s because Tara is sick, so we’re going to bed early. Smartest thing ever. And I’m careful so that I don’t get sick because that wouldn’t work.

I killed Kenpo today and headed off for my last day of work for five days. Life is good. My good buddy Nick Thacker gets married on Saturday.  So a lot of celebrating, but I intend to make the workouts count! Wish me luck. It’s a tough task.

Beeeeeeeep!

Day 21: Kenpo X

Week 3 P90X

Week 3 in the can.

Urgh. We went out for Tara’s friends pre-wedding party last night. Dinner was way late, so therefore, the night was way late. Late nights usually mean some ‘adult beverages’ and that leads to headaches…which leads to ‘the last thing you want to do is work out’.

It’s not recommended that you drink while on P90X. Well, I get that. Some people don’t drink at all – so they never have this problem. I still believe you can drink and eat well as long as you don’t overdo it. Of course, its much easier said than done.

So believing in this sage advice, I felt no matter how I felt, I must work out. Kenpo X is a karate-based workout. You throw kicks, punches, etc. etc. Perfect for a hangover (that’s sarcasm, people).

So again, another weak workout – but I got some in. SOME, not all. But I’m chalking it up to a win since I brought it when the last thing on earth I wanted to do was throw a kick or a punch.

With this small success, I’ve completed week 3 – and feel damn good about it. Monday is a new week, RECOVERY WEEK based on the program. Lots of cardio, stretching and ab workouts. That’s perfect because I’m heading to a wedding late this weekend and I won’t need to figure out weights or pull up bars.

Going to step it up this next week. Glad this one is OVER. Later.

Day 13: Tragedy

P90X FailureFull disclosure: I earned my first big, red X today on the workout log. Today was so filled with work (despite being my day off) I just couldn’t get to the workout. It’s difficult putting an X on the board, but I have to admit the workout didn’t get in. But the amount of work we got done was awesome – so I don’t feel too bad. I need to realize for the amount of work I do, there will simply be a day or two that I miss. It’s life. But I intend on working out everyday.

So today was supposed to be Legs & Back. My plan is to do it tomorrow and scratch Kenpo X. That way I can keep the recording the progress on the weight side of things.

Urgh. Red X’s suck. Back at it tomorrow.

Day 7: Kenpo X

Week 1 - P90X Classic

One week down. Only eleven more to go. Heh.

ONE WEEK DONE! Ah, it feels good. It was a tough week, a busy week…but I made it. Tonight I had the most energy of any day of the week. I didn’t work out until 7:00 p.m. – but it felt great despite working on website graphic mockups all day (I know, nice life). But I got it done. So I have one week in the can.

Looking back, Wednesday was the worst. No energy and barely made it through. I chalk that up to not as many carbs in the diet, and my body wondering what the hell I was doing to it. This week should be much better. I brought it about 1/2 speed this week, so we’ll step it up next week and start seeing some progress.

I’m going to set Mondays as ‘weigh in’ day for fun. I really don’t care much about the scale or how much I weigh, I just want the flab to GO AWAY. Tighten everything up and start getting healthier. But for the sake of analytics, I’ll weigh-in on Mondays.
