About the Site
NewsRamble.com is a blog about navigating life while working in the television news business. News changes every day – and it makes for some pretty dramatic, compelling, bizarre, intriguing and obnoxious content.
But since news changes every day, it’s more reason why I love the business (most days). The media still takes a lot of flack and we always will. We get to witness the most amazing (and horrific) things as they happen.
This blog was created to help share some of the sights and sounds of working in a newsroom. It’s also a stroll through my 30s while working in TV – and jottings of things that interest me – and could possibly interest you.
As for TV news, it’s a bizarre business, that’s for sure. I encourage others in the news business to share their stories with me – I know you have a lot of them.
A Little About Me
My name is Josh Benson. I’m a television news anchor/reporter. I grew up in the tiny town of Scandia, Minnesota. In college I studied Journalism. I was a television news intern in Minneapolis, Minnesota (KSTP and WCCO). I’ve worked in Austin, Minnesota (KAAL), Tucson, Arizona (KVOA) and now Orlando, Florida (WFTV/WRDQ). I have been in TV almost a decade. I am also a website designer and co-owner of Joker Media. I also work on the case of missing anchorwoman Jodi Huisentruit with my former news director Gary Peterson (KAAL). Our work is chronicled on our website FindJodi.com.
In my free time I follow my beloved Minnesota Twins and Vikings. I venture out to learn more about Orlando and its community. I have a love/hate relationship with P90X. To this day, I have never completed 90 days (but have come very close) – but I continue in earnest in getting there. My body cries each time I force myself to start over.
