Forget water-boarding. If you want to punish a criminal, just turn on the fire alarm all morning. My apartment complex decided to test our sprinklers today. But along with that came the fire alarm.
Beeeeeeeeeeeeep Attention! Attention! This is an emergency. Stop what you’re doing and leave the building immediately. Beeeeeep!
I’m all about safety. But this went on and on for hours. I didn’t even hear the guys knock on my door to test the sprinklers because I had earplugs in. I thought I was going to lose it. But we survived. And the sounds stopped by workout time. Thank goodness. Working out with earplugs may have been a bit odd.
TONS of energy today. The sleep I’m getting is awesome. And it’s because Tara is sick, so we’re going to bed early. Smartest thing ever. And I’m careful so that I don’t get sick because that wouldn’t work.
I killed Kenpo today and headed off for my last day of work for five days. Life is good. My good buddy Nick Thacker gets married on Saturday. So a lot of celebrating, but I intend to make the workouts count! Wish me luck. It’s a tough task.
Beeeeeeeep!
Time to make the abs shake. This workout really hammers your abs. It feels pretty good because now my ab muscles are starting to wake up and not feel like a down pillow. Today’s workout was great. I got a bunch of sleep again so that really helped out. So another star on the board and we keep marching – my buddy’s wedding is encroaching, but I think we’ll be alright. This recovery week is perfect. Adios, peeps.
What a difference a little sleeps makes! Passed out about 12:30 A.M. last night after tackling some computer server issues (which can always be a good way to blow some much-valuable sleep time). But I still logged about nine hours. It was much needed.
So come workout time, I was ready to go. This is Week 4: Recovery Week. Based on the Classic program, this is a week they want you to chill a bit and burn some calories and give the muscles a break. Fine by me.
P90x Workout Plan Week 4
- Day 1 – Yoga X
- Day 2 – Core Synergistics
- Day 3 – Kenpo X
- Day 4 – X Stretch
- Day 5 – Core Synergistics
- Day 6 – Yoga X
- Day 7 – Rest or X Stretch
I killed Yoga X today. I felt much stronger and I could make it through the moves fairly well. So got it in and started off on a good note unlike yesterday. Short work week this week and I head to Minnesota on Thursday. I love heading home. Good break. Back to Orlando on Monday. Yeeeehaw! And yes, P90X is in my suitcase. Have no fear. Later.

Week 3 in the can.
Urgh. We went out for Tara’s friends pre-wedding party last night. Dinner was way late, so therefore, the night was way late. Late nights usually mean some ‘adult beverages’ and that leads to headaches…which leads to ‘the last thing you want to do is work out’.
It’s not recommended that you drink while on P90X. Well, I get that. Some people don’t drink at all – so they never have this problem. I still believe you can drink and eat well as long as you don’t overdo it. Of course, its much easier said than done.
So believing in this sage advice, I felt no matter how I felt, I must work out. Kenpo X is a karate-based workout. You throw kicks, punches, etc. etc. Perfect for a hangover (that’s sarcasm, people).
So again, another weak workout – but I got some in. SOME, not all. But I’m chalking it up to a win since I brought it when the last thing on earth I wanted to do was throw a kick or a punch.
With this small success, I’ve completed week 3 – and feel damn good about it. Monday is a new week, RECOVERY WEEK based on the program. Lots of cardio, stretching and ab workouts. That’s perfect because I’m heading to a wedding late this weekend and I won’t need to figure out weights or pull up bars.
Going to step it up this next week. Glad this one is OVER. Later.
I hit the golf course today.
A couple buddies and I went to Dubsdread, an Orlando course near downtown, for some much needed fresh air and practice. I have a great app to track the round called Golf Shot, and it keeps track of all my rounds. I noticed I hadn’t played since November 19th. Pathetic. But ironically, that round was the best back nine of my career – so I was hoping to reproduce the results during this outing.
It didn’t happen. But we still had fun.
Suffice it to say, I did get a workout in, but it was less-than-stellar. I started and I was so dead, that I just mailed it in. But I still did enough to be wiped out. The rest of the day was sleeping, well, passed out actually.
So with 18 holes and a mediocre workout, I’d say it was a successful Saturday from a fitness perspective. Onward!
Not a great performance. That is the summary for today. While I’m becoming much more flexible, my available time is about as tight as a new drum, so Yoga was a bit condensed today. Nothing outstanding to report on today from the ‘Office Workout Space’, other than TGIF.
Hitting the links tomorrow and plan to do Legs & Back afterward. That’s not going to be an easy task. But here we go.
Have a good weekend.
I had a Sweeps shoot on the coast today, so I won’t be hitting the workout today. Thursdays seem to be lining up as a good day off, so we’ll go for it. Have a good day!
Pushed my work this morning to the brink…so it left me only a small window to work out. But I got it in. It wasn’t 100% complete. Which sucks. But it was good enough considering the circumstances. I did complete Ab Ripper to the fullest. I can feel my lower back bulging out of my skin as I write this. Not the greatest feeling in the world, but it’s life. Tomorrow is a reporting day so I’ll be heading to Port Canaveral. So no workout tomorrow. Thursday rest day. My body needs a break anyway. Onward.
They’re alive! The legs are actually starting to work like they’re supposed to. Today was a pretty good workout. It was much better than yesterday’s debacle. I came out of the gate strong and the legs could hang for awhile, still not the whole hour. But getting close. I’m not much of a closer. Yet. We’ll get there.
Had a weekend full of not-so-great-food and some adult beverages. So that didn’t help the diet aspect much. So I’ll have to make a comeback this week. I eat almost perfectly all week. The challenge is to see if I can make it through the weekend eating that well. That, to me, is just shy of an impossibility. But we’ll see how it goes.
All in all, a good day. Soreness is finally going away. Yay for that.
Starting week three today. And it’s like I hit a plateau. I made it through the first 1/2 hour of the workout but then hit a wall. Not sure why that was. I didn’t have much for breakfast, but I just feel worn out today. Ah well, must be the fact I just came off a three day weekend and needed my can kicked to get back into the swing of things.
Got the workout in and we’re off to the races on a new week – so that’s good. My good buddy is getting married a week from Saturday so I’ll be taking P90X on the road to Minnesota. Hotel room workouts…hmmm, should be interesting.
For some reason I have this stuck in my head:
Motownphilly’s back again
Doin’ a little east coast fling
Boyz II Men going off
Not too hard, not too soft
What the hell is that about? GET OUT, already! I need to focus. Heyo.
